Women in Apologetics

WIA ACADEMY SHORT COURSES

WIA has been educating, equipping, and encouraging Christian women since 2017 and launched its first WIA Academy self-paced course in 2021, Islam Foundations. Our WIA Academy short courses are being designed to further our mission to be a resource for anyone who wants to know how to think intelligently about their faith and boldly share the gospel.

The short course instructors will use engaging lessons to communicate the topics so that faith seekers, new Christians, seasoned Christians, or anyone who is new to apologetics or wants to brush up on the basics can grasp, retain, and use the principles presented.

Each course will cover one of the core principles of apologetics: truth, logic, and worldview. The full curriculum will combine 12 video lessons—along with study guides, infographics, and quizzes—to help students connect these principles to Christianity and the gospel.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS

Kelli Johnson

Being a homeschool mom of three wonderful children for over a decade, Kelli Johnson has honed her writing skills and passion for making the difficult things in life more easily understood in a variety of applications. Married to a very patient and godly man for the past 16 years, she has been supported in all of her endeavors of learning, growing and sharing that knowledge with whomever the Lord gives opportunity to.

A woman of many hobbies, Kelli plays violin and is a photographer/videographer in her spare time as well as being a former MMA fighter and competitive weight-lifter. Her life took a dramatic turn when in 2016 her body began to shut down and she became mysteriously and seriously ill.  Over the past seven years, doctors and specialists have tried and failed to determine why such intense pain was occurring.  However, the Lord in His faithfulness has used this time and suffering to draw her to Him in a new and intimate way and allowed all other distractions to, by necessity, be completely removed.

Learning to walk with the Lord, while constantly plagued by undiagnosed medical issues, Kelli has shifted her energies into creating curriculum and Bible studies for women and youth in her local community. She teaches apologetics as well as a variety of topics such as covenants, lament and suffering, Old Testament studies, the meta-narrative of the Bible and more in her local church, women’s Bible studies and to youth groups as well as occasionally writing on her blog https://apologeticfemale.blogspot.com.

Michele Marsili

Michele earned her B.S. from Drexel University where she majored in Photography and she also has an MBA from Mount St. Mary’s University. She has worked as a competitive intelligence/position-to-win analyst for over ten years at a defense contractor corporation.

Her passion for apologetics caught fire when God revealed how she could use many of her analytical skills to help explain and defend the Gospel, combining her love of God with her tendency towards logic. She currently serves at her local church in the children’s ministry, youth group, and women’s ministry as a co-teacher of an apologetics class. She is always on the lookout for additional Christian apologetics resources to expand her knowledge and further enable her to love the Lord her God with all her heart, soul, and mind.

Jade Turner

Jade has had a passion for Christian apologetics since she was a teenager when she began learning that there are good, rational, and reasonable arguments for Christianity. She obtained a B.A. in History from Southeastern Louisiana University and would channel her love for defending the faith into completing an M.A. in Christian Apologetics from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. In 2017, Jade cofounded Women in Apologetics with Rachel Shockey, desiring to develop an organization that would educate, equip, and encourage women in Christian Apologetics. She currently serves as the Girls Minister in the student ministry at her church, First Baptist Church of Covington (Louisiana). Jade and her husband Jonathan live in South Louisiana and enjoy the best food in the world and life with their students.
